Good outdoor speakers for garden, balcony and terrace

As soon as the first rays of sunshine warm our skin, life moves back out into the garden or onto the balcony. But what would a chilled evening be without the right music?

More and more manufacturers are therefore offering so-called outdoor speakers. Many of them are equipped with Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and a rechargeable battery so that you don’t have to lay any annoying cables through the garden.

However, there are also outdoor speakers for permanent installation, for example for wall mounting on the patio or for concealed installation in bushes.

All outdoor speakers have one feature in common: they are waterproof and built in such a way that they don’t immediately break after a rain shower. Most outdoor speakers are also unaffected by extreme heat.

Outdoor speaker with Bluetooth

Anker Soundcore 3

The Soundcore speakers from Anker are the universal weapon for outdoor music via Bluetooth. They are small and handy (370 grams), have a good sound that is easily sufficient for the balcony or a small terrace and the battery lasts forever.

According to the manufacturer, the Soundcore 3 has a playing time of 24 hours or around 500 tracks.

The Bluetooth speaker is waterproof in accordance with the IPX7 standard and, like the Marshall Emberton, can even be briefly submerged. So if the speaker falls into a paddling pool, it will remain intact.

The Soundcore 3 from Anker is not only available in black but also in red, gray and blue. If you prefer something a little smaller, you should take a closer look at my review of the JBL Go 3.

UE Boom 3

If you need a little more volume and bass, you should go for the Boom 3 from Ultimate Ears. However, this Bluetooth speaker is also significantly more expensive than the Anker Soundcore.

Is it worth it? A clear yes, if you don’t just want to listen to background music but also want to throw a small garden party.

The Boom series from UE is extremely stable and waterproof. The speakers can even float on the surface – but that doesn’t make any sense for the sound quality.

What I particularly like is that there is a separately available charging station where you can elegantly recharge the speaker.

This means that the UE Boom can be placed in the living room or kitchen, for example, and taken into the garden or onto the balcony if required.

auvisio garden loudspeaker in stone design

If you want a garden speaker with Bluetooth for relaxed background music that is as unobtrusive as possible, this speaker is the perfect choice.

It is splash-proof, has an integrated rechargeable battery and an additional aux connection if you want to feed in music directly via cable.

According to the manufacturer, the battery has a runtime of 6 hours at 75% volume. When setting up this speaker, you should try out different positions as the sound may change depending on where it is placed.

Outdoor loudspeaker for fixed installation

Pronomic garden loudspeaker

These outdoor speakers with Bluetooth work on a similar principle to the much more expensive Free Space speakers from Bose: the lower part is slightly buried in the ground, while the upper part contains a speaker that is directed downwards and distributes the sound in all directions.

The speaker cone is also well protected against rain thanks to the design.

This speaker is permanently connected to the power supply and does not have an integrated rechargeable battery. It is therefore particularly suitable for permanent fixed installations.

KEF Ventura outdoor loudspeaker

Do you want weatherproof outdoor speakers for the patio that sound really good? Then the KEF Ventura might be your first choice.

However, they have neither Bluetooth nor an integrated amplifier and must therefore be connected to an amplifier by cable.

The high-end speakers are available in three different sizes (Ventura 4, 5 and 6), which differ primarily in size.

All versions are available in black and white and can be mounted both vertically and horizontally.

The protection class is IP65. According to the manufacturer, the speakers can even be mounted on yachts and can therefore withstand aggressive salt water.

Outdoor speaker with WLAN

Sonos Move

Alongside the Sonos Roam, the Sonos Move is one of the few outdoor speakers with Bluetooth and WLAN. Z

At home, the Sonos Move can be integrated into the network via Wi-Fi and thus used as a multi-room speaker via the Sonos app. On the move, it can also be connected directly via Bluetooth, e.g. to a smartphone.

The sound is great and always adapts automatically to the surroundings as soon as it is placed somewhere else.

The battery life is specified as eleven hours, and it can be charged at home on the charging station supplied.

But beware: it is bigger and heavier (3 kg) than you might expect. However, the manufacturer not only provides a spare battery and a wall bracket, but also a carrying bag.
