How to connect Sonos Roam with Bluetooth in 5 seconds

With the Roam, Sonos has brought a portable speaker onto the market that is handy and sounds very good for its size. Unfortunately, the operation of the Roam is anything but intuitive.

The buttons on the top are almost impossible to use in the dark, and some functions such as connecting to Bluetooth or switching on and off are unnecessarily complicated.

Many new owners of the Sonos Roam ask themselves: How can the speaker be connected to Bluetooth?

Connect Sonos Roam with Bluetooth

Anyone who takes a new Roam out of the packaging and wants to connect it directly to Bluetooth will not be successful. The speaker must first be set up in a WLAN via the Sonos app.

The status light on the front should also be switched on so that you can see whether Bluetooth is active or inactive.

The status light can be switched on and off via the Sonos app.

First tap on the cogwheel at the bottom right, then on System, then on Sonos Roam and then press the button for Status light.

If the status light lights up white, it is switched on and ready for operation.

To switch to Bluetooth mode, press the flat, elongated button on the back (right next to the charging socket) for two seconds.

You hear a short tone and the status light flashes blue.

Now you can pair a smartphone with the speaker via Bluetooth, for example.

As soon as the smartphone is connected to the Roam, the status light turns solid blue. In Bluetooth mode, the speaker can still be controlled from the Sonos app via Wi-Fi.

By the way: In addition to black and white, the Roam is now available in three new colors: Blue, green and red.

If you want to connect another or another Bluetooth device to the Roam, press the long button again for two seconds.

To return to normal mode, press the button again for 2 seconds.
